*At birth our grandson has been obsessed with trains, so the pull-behind engine brings us great joy. He lights up every ride we take while I pull him around the yard with the mower. So in that sense, it’s really like a caboose. He is 2 1/2 yrs old and he believes it’s a real train engine while he spins the steering wheel and shifting gears, he is dinging the bell and blowing the whistle. WHOO, WHOO!! Oh I could go on and on about him…..........

The train:
ENGINE NOSE- Old house oven vent grill
ENGINE COMBUSTION CHAMBER- Mower pull behind yard roller
WHEELS- Wooden electrical wire spools
SMOKESTACK- An old tiki torch
DASHBOARD- Speed limit 5mph sign
STEERING WHEEL- Something we picked up at an antique store
TRAIN BELL PROP- Half of a fireplace tong
GEAR SHIFT- Another fireplace tool
CHASIS APRIN- Leftover swimming pool aluminum coping
CHASIS- An old yard wagon, cut in half and extended
ROOF- General contractors construction site sign

And yes…..Mostly White Oak, but this train has nothing on my grandsons smile!!

Thanks for viewing.

That has got to be a huge hit, I can only imagine the look on your grankids face. Nice work.

How wonderful and creative! What kid wouldn’t love a train like this and I bet he is thrilled every time he drives it. You did such a great job on this train.

Grandchildren are a gift. And you just repaid the gift. Wonderful creation.

Great project, I’m sure your grandson loves it. Great use of stuff.

Nothing better than watching a child enjoy something you made. Fantastic.
