Project Information

I know folks are soon going to comment, "Cease and desist," but I'll probably keep posting these regardless.

In my bins, I found a small piece of wild cherry gall. In the past I've made small bowls, so I thought I'd try another.

The declivity was done with a paddle bit, Forstner bit, and then sanding discs on my drill.

I ground and then sanded the outside.

I think this has some interesting features. Golfball pic just so you can get a sense of size.

I might wipe on another coat or two of poly, but overall I think this turned out.

Small but would make a nice coin holder on a dresser. Here is a thought, look into a flexible shaft, power carver with a foot pedal for speed controll. Something like a dreamal. Might make the hollowing easier for you.

Thanks, Eric… actually, the hollowing isn't too bad. Right now, not looking to invest in any more tools.

I am glad you included the golf ball for scale. I thought it was bigger originally.

This is one of the coolest websites I've ever seen. The articles posted on this website mapquest directions are very qualified and have a lot of useful information in many fields.
