To honor my stepfather, I recently built this beautiful flag holder for his military burial flag. It’s hand dovetailed, made of cherry, 16 inches at the highest point and 22 inches at the widest point. I added an area at the bottom to hold some mementos, including his Marine Identification Card, small Bible, 1967 fishing license, and his membership card from “The Turtle Club.” It was an honor to make this case. I just wish my mom could have seen it before she passed away and I inherited the flag.

Totally wonderful! What a great tribute to one of America’s best!
I’ve had the privilege of making 2 flag case for WWII decorated Veterans. A very humbling effort for each of those wonderful friends. May God bless them and those who loved them!

You honor his memory well. I have one to make one of these for my Dad. I like the idea of the Memento area at the bottom. I also have the shell casings from his 21 Gun Salute and his Bronze Star. Besides that I have to make my own for my 30 years of Active Duty Air Force & Air Force Reserve, Retired SMSgt. Dan
