Project Information

A customer from a past show stopped over and asked if I'd make him 2 horseshoe door knockers like the one I had at the show last year. They were for some farrier friends of his and I just happened to have 2 more genuine horse shoes.

I brazed on a 1/4" rod on each shoe and then built the mounts for them. All the wood is mesquite with brass hammers. They are finished with Helmsman UV resistant Poly.

Cheers, Jim

These are real lookers Jim. I don't remembering seeing any before. If we didn't already have a knocker on the door I would add one of these. Nicely done.

Thank you all for the nice comments. It was nice to get an order before the shows start. Most of my time is spent in making things for the great granddaughters which I have not posted.

Pete gave me some of those big throwing horse shoes to make into these but they were too heavy and a farrier would want an original horse shoe anyway.

You present a fine pair of knockers Jim!

Cool way to make them self-contained so they just need a door to be secured to.

They are the best door knockers.

I like how you made the hardware.

I'm sure your customer will know when someone's at the door.
