Here is a vessel that came from a blank generously given to me by recycle1943. It was an almost-cube of mahogany ~6×6x4”. The grain was straight, and that made the iridescence of the figure stand out.
The top is hard maple, and the pull is padauk. taken down to 220 grit, and finished with tung oil.
To get the final match of top-to-bottom, I had the mahogany attached to a faceplate, and press fit the lid with a pre cut lip for centering by the tailstock. Then I turned it like a solid piece. That worked out well. What didn’t work out was to drop it as I was finishing the pull-to-lid mate. Now there is a non-removable dent in the otherwise sharp edge. #$%#$^$&%

Good looking bowl Mike.
You tried steaming the dent out?
Depends on if it just crushed or chipped.
