Playful Dalmation puppy. About 4 inches long. This was a piece of Southern basswood that I had. Got it started and immediately ran into trouble with the wood splitting. Started to throw it away, but decided to go ahead and finish carving. The grain is vertical, and the tail is a dowel that was added on. You can see places where the wood split off. After attempting to smooth them out, I finally stopped as it would cause the shape to change too much IMO.

Cute little guy. Basswood is good for carving, Mt dad used that on his decorative decoy carving.

Great dalmatian look alike. Reminds me of my sis-in laws dog many years back. He was a playful guy.

Nice job Claude. Reminds me of the two Dalmatians I had. The problem was, most Dalmatians have bad health problems. Both of mind had kidney problems where one died at age 5 and the other at age 3. Other than their health, they were great dogs.
