This is a bud vase I made for a lady friend who is turning 90 in a couple of weeks.
It is made from Golden Chain tree wood (Laburnum Anagyroides). The wood came from a tree her deceased son planted when he was a boy and the tree was knocked over in a snow storm several years ago. At the time her husbands asked if I could I make her something from the wood as a remembrance of her son. So I made a lidded box. I have never had someone so pleased with something I had made for them as she was.
I still had this piece of the wood so I decided to make this bud vase for her. It is 6” tall and finished with processed Walnut oil and wax.

Very heartfelt gift and so nicely done. This story is the joy of woodworking – to show someone you care by the thought and care that goes into the project. Great job!
