Failure to Success

This project was simply turning square wood in to round and then deciding what to do from there. I thought about using this wood before, but it was a little punky in the corner. I decided, what the heck, lets give it go.

It FAILED as bowl.

The punkiness was too much. It became a tea light holder! Who knew that was hiding in the wood? LOL

Here’s this weeks video: Claro Surprise!

Thanks

The first time I was ever in front of a lathe I was told “a lot of times you have no idea what you will end up with, you might have an idea but that is not a guarantee!”

The surprise is one of my favorite things about turning. But don’t think that I don’t also love when a plan comes together just right!!

Looks good! I appreciate your skills.

thats so true ben many times i start with an idea and it goes a different direction.sometimes you let the wood tell you what it wants to be.

That statement is so true… about no idea what you end up with. Skills I’m still working on. :)
