No.The base is a 15 inch stool round cut out from Menards. Had to putty the hell out of the end grain.. Black stain for the black stain part. 2 coats of sanding sealer then for the painted area 2 coats of 123 primer then like a million coats of super thinned out Folk Art craft paint metallic (Mix silver and gold metallic). Then 2 coats of DEFT satin Lacquer. The lettering is cut vinyl. the helmet I bought on line then cut it down the middle which was harder than one might think. I have to take the helmet apart to do what I need to do to it. The helmets are pretty insanely well done and pricey. They even have full padding inside. But I get TWO out of every one. I have become sooo OCD on my finishes. Took 3 days on the PAINTED part . I bought an iwati airbrush, which is too small for what I want, and just too temperamental for what I needed but I got it done. For these I had to get the paint color right so for a quarter of these I have to mix my own paint. The Metallics are notoriously hard to work with via an airbrush. If I can find a MATTE finish rattle can paint that is vert close to the official NFL colors I use that.
I have been experimenting with replacements for my pricey DEFT rattle can lacquer. Nothing comes even close. In quality and price. The DEFT is just so perfectly buttery spraying out and it comes out in a fan tip pattern.
