I made three boxes from wood my father in law had in his basement when he dies. I made one for each of his daughters. I used maple , walnut, purple heart, zebra wood and one type that I’m not sure what it was. The frame was mounted to the base using sliding dovetails. To make the ring holders, I cut down Nerf darts and covered them with sheets of felt and secured it with hot glue.

Nice jewelry boxes. Is the wood you are uncertain about the dark wood lid with the light patch? I am going to look at the wood data base.
Added: Maybe Bendee, in the Acacia family.

Thank you.
Yes, that’s the one. It smelled like cinnamon when cut and I had an allergic reaction after working with it for a few days, if that helps.

Beautiful work! This is my next project to try. do the side doors have soft closing hinges, how do you keep them closed?

They are just brass hinges. I set magnets in the door and body of the box.
I would also recommend putting something across the bottom of the doors to keep the longer necklaces inside. I didn’t do that and it’s an issue.
Good luck. It was a really fun project. I used the opportunity to learn a lot of difficult things.
