This design was by special request as a gift. it was made from left over walnut from another project and I finished it with teak oil. This project was my first effort in biscuit joinery and dove tail corner joints. I used a box bit for the drawer corners and dowels to join the top to the box bottom. All I can say is I did a lot of practice and generated a lot of scrap dove tails…

Very nice looking box. Looks like you did a mighty fine job on the dovetails too. Why is there a guy sleeping on it?

Great Job. I like the detail of the guy sleeping on top.

As far as I can see your project looks really nice! Doctors say they have a practice as a woodworker I feel woodworking is also a practice! We constantly strive to get better!

Oh.. I have the same Craftsman router and I put it in my table saw last week!

I saw your Craftsman router box set up, what a great idea. Thanks for your comments. I am a work in progress for sure.

I looked it up. The guy on top is Joseph from the Bible, the step father of Jesus. Scripture does not document anything Joseph has ever said but he got all his inspiration while he was sleeping. An example, when he was told in a dream to move his family to Egypt to escape the evil King Harrod who wanted to kill Jesus. SO, the idea behind the box with the drawer and Joseph on top is to let Joseph to sleep on what ever thought or prayer you place in the drawer.

Really fine box and work.
You sure learned a lot there and pulled it all off.
Routing profiles, four different techniques of joining as well as using jigs and making a beautiful finish – bravo!
Best thoughts,
