Mixed timber Salt and Pepper grinders

I saw some objects years ago made up of multiple different timbers and decided that I should have a go.
These are made from Jarrah and Pine only and were not really good quality wood as I was not sure how they would turn out. Wish I had used good stuff now. Funny, I’ve done that before and you would think that a person would learn.
Apparently I’m not that sort of person.
The mixture was created by glueing strips of each timber, then cutting random pieces and re-glueing until I had two blanks about 2 inches square and 6 n- 8 inches long.
Purchased the necessary kits and away I went. The grinder with the Black knob is the Pepper grinder.
Pieces were glued with Titebond 111 and finish sanded to 240 grit and polished with Shellawax Glow.

Hope you like them and Thanks for looking.

C & C Welcome

Bob

Never had the penchant for segmented stuff and fancy cutting boards etc., however, this has piqued my interest… I like these for some morbid reason, BW.

... and I suppose I can forgive you for talking in inches, seeing as you are from that distant seceded state of WA.

mixing lumber can have great results, even when it may not be prime wood

Bob they turned out great anyway. I’m with you. I’m not a fan of softwoods especially for turning but they turn out nice when done like this. I like learning slowly myself too. It gives me more time in the shop. LOL.

Very good, Honorable Bob. So, now, you get some really awesome woods and do it again, calling these ones practice.
