Tribute plaque for a 1969 Vietnam vet, who still remembers not having dry socks over there. It started with the insignia-
With Aspire software I converted the image to workable vectors (many hours). I put the 3d model on hold and converted it to laser engraving.
The frame is cut from Medex on a CNC, the coating is pewter from Sculpt Nouveau coating, and the 2 laser plaques are from TroTec materials, 3mm brushed aluminum/with a black.

Good to see a laser being used for a decent project rather than smutt and puzzles… and the occasional box.
I can appreciate the effort required to vector from an image… and all those handcut dovetailer dare to whinge.
I was bemused you engraving on some TroTec material… if it’s the same company, I’ve had my Trotec laser for over 12 years but never tried any of their media… I’m strictly a pyromaniac on wood… and as the missus says,”you’re (cest moi) no pyro”...
