My dad liked Walnut and loved how I incorporated sapwood in my projects. He sadly died of covid pneumonia a few weeks ago. It’s been devastating but keeping busy in the shop has helped. RIP Dad. I miss you tons!

My condolences to you and your family.

Nice job on the tribute.

I just started on my Dad’s this past Monday. It, too, will be fashioned from black walnut.

Condolences, he was young!

Rick, so very sorry for your loss.

This is my first comment on all the postings. I’ve seen many postings on a flag case but this one just caught my eye and tugged at my heart.

I would like to make one just like this for …me. So when I , too, must pass my family will have a place for my flag and will remember me and my woodworking hobby.
I’ve been here on earth for 75 years so I better get started.

Where did you get the Army emblem? What are the dimensions and angles of your cuts?

I used the plan below to make the actual flag box. The molding I did a more decorative edge instead of chamfers. The bottom display can be made to your liking as well. Nothing special with the measurements. As for the medallion, I got that off of Amazon.

My respects. A very dignified and respectful case design.
