I made this #3 size shaker oval box for my mother for Christmas. I’ve been forced to make small things like this for the time being until I can get more tools back in my shop. I lined it with purple felt because that’s what I had on hand.

Very nice, I need to look up how those are made.

Curtis,

I have always admired those boxes. You did a great job. Is that QS Sycamore?

Awsum55 Rough cut did a show on building them if I remember correctly.

John, another John, John Wilson of Shaker Oval Box is the guy to see. Classes, all manner of educational things, and he sells all the needed patterns, molds, anything else to make them from #000 to a #12. Making a full stack is an undertaking, but a lot of fun.

This is a nice Shaker box, can’t say I’ve seen one lined with felt before, much less purple felt, but it is something to remember. :-)

That is really nice. I have seen plans for those and thought they would be a fun build. Great job.

Very nice.
I too am intrigued by their design and they look enjoyable to build. Yours is very attractive.
Well done.
