So my kids ride horses at a local barn along with a few of the neighborhood kids. The instructor needed a mailbox the kids could ride up to so they could work on horse and kid control and work on a handy rider type course.

As luck would have it, our neighbor was replacing theirs so I sanded all the old stain/paint off and then cut the bottom off the post and put on a massive lap joint to mount a new section of post on it to raise the box to “horse height”. I painted it bright blue because I had a can of that left from a different project.

Posting this one on LJ’s to tease my neighbor more than anything.
