A good friends daughter owns a small business and likes to do things for the community around it. She asked me if I could build a Little Free Library to sit on a post of her new fence. I of course agreed. This may be the only one of these done in solid maple but at less than $6 a BF it has become my standard shop stock. She has even registered it with LittleFreeLibrary.org.

This great, we have a couple in our neighborhood and they appear to be used quite a bit. By the way why not use good hardwood you plan to have it up for a long time.

Nicely done Joe, and such a wonderful thing. We have a few of those around in our community.

Nice work. We have one in our neighborhood that gets a lot of use. I think hardwood makes a lot of sense. The one in our neighborhood was built with plywood and has has a lot of issues with water. Its been re-designed and rebuilt a couple times.

Very nicely done.

There is one in the hoa that I live in and it does get used too. Located very near a common so gets a little more traffic.

Nice! When I moved from Minneapolis to Santa Fe, I donated quite a few books to various LFLs around me. Went walking with to or three books in my bag every day for a couple months, and ended up topping up something like a half-dozen LFLs. We don’t have one within walking distance of my place in Santa Fe, but building one is on my list for next spring.

Great job. This is on my “honey do list” as well for the spring. Can I ask how you mounted it to the post? Also how heavy did that end up being with solid maple?
