7 1/4”x 3 1/2”
Friction Polish

Couldn’t sleep last night, so I grabbed one of the rough turned bowls and finished it up. Very unique pattern… only nature can make.

Well that was some well-used insomnia! Just out of curiosity, how much are you considering to sell your spalted bowls for? Feel free to just message me through the direct message system.

Great bowl!

Thank you. And I have no idea at the moment on pricing. I’m going to have to do some research on it and get some ideas from people who have been doing it (successfully) for a while to know.

Cool… put them up here so we can see them! I’ve never worked myrtle wood. Next time I attempt spalting wood, we’ll need to make sure we do some exchanging of blanks.

Appreciate that! Spalting on purpose is like a box of chocolates… you never know what you are going to get. LOL
Timing it out is probably the biggest factor. (cutting it up)

Dude, I’ve got to try that spalting thing you do. And yes, let us know if and when you put your bowls up for sale. I’d imagine they will be priced pretty good considering the spalt.

Thanks Eric, I’ve been rough turning them for months. The last few I rough turning in early September. May have some more coming. Just depends on how well they’ve dried out.

Nice looking bowl. Was the wood punky/soft? If so, how do you stabilize it to get a high polish?
