Here’s a yard lighthouse I designed and built earlier this year. I saw a similar lighthouse on Pinterest a few years ago and really liked the way it looked in someone’s garden. This lighthouse has a square body and I’m totally happy with the way it turned out. It’s made entirely out of pressure-treated lumber and I wanted it to have a natural wood look. I’ll be posting some other lighthouses I’ve made soon, I’ve designed quite a few.

I built two different tops for this lighthouse. I settled with the square top and cedar-shingle roof. I placed some black window screen in the openings (to keep the wasps out) and installed a blinking solar lighthouse beacon inside. Nice! I finished it with some Cabot deck stain so it should last a long time. There are so many new colors available for exterior stain now, it’s hard to choose sometimes. I was looking for a weathered look, and I’m sure over the years it will look even better. I’ve even considered making one with a mailbox in the top. That’s a project for another day…

Very nice! I really like the design. Great work!
