Rocky Mountain Red Juniper accent bowl just finished.

Measurements are approximate:

20 inches long
8 inches wide on one end
6 inches wide on the other end
5 inches high at highest point

I made this to be an accent piece for a coffee table, sofa table, dining table, or whatever location is desired.

Lots of carving and shaping on this one.

Finished with one coat of dewaxed shellac as a sanding sealer, three coats of hand rubbed gloss polyurethane varnish, and one coat of hand rubbed beeswax to finish it off.

Thanks for looking.

Looking very nice. An accent piece, it’s going to be the main attraction. Great job.

Lots of visual interest (and looks like a lot of hours)!

Rustic beauty!

Thanks all for your positive feedback. It’s really appreciated!

Yes, splintergroup, there are a lot of hours invested. I never keep track, though, cuz if I did, I probably wouldn’t do this kind of work. It’s actually my form of therapy.

Oof! That is gorgeous. Nice choice on hollowing the Y shape.

I love seeing the picture of what you started with! Very nicely done. I don’t know much about juniper – will this color shift over time or does it stay about the same once finished?

BB1, the color may shift if exposed a lot to sunlight, but it’s been minimal in my experience.
