This edge grain board with purpleheart, osage orange, maple and bolivian rosewood turned out alright. I need to work on better color patterns, still new to all this.

This is a fine-looking broad well done.

The workmanship looks fine.

The maple looks like oak—that’s part of the issue.
Oak is mostly brown as compared to the more white or cream maple.

Watch the board over time as it changes color due to exposure:
Osage tends to go brown
Purpleheart tends to go dark brown.

Finally, IMO, oak is not a real good cutting board wood because of it’s open grain.
