Before going off to college I made my son a “beer-pong” table out of plywood. During those years, the winners of the beer-pong match would sign their names on the table. Fast forward 5 years and this table is sitting in my garage unused.
My son needed a dresser for his apartment so I made him this one. I cut up the beer-pong table and used it for the drawers. Now ever time he opens a drawer he gets a remembrance of his college days and all those fun games with his friends. (see last picture)

Shout out to fellow jocks Leec who forwarded me his plans for this dresser https://www.lumberjocks.com/projects/362601
and my LJ Buddy “Firewood” who graciously invited me over to his house and helped me resaw the walnut drawer fronts. That was a fun day.

-- "Fine Woodworking" is the name given to a project that takes 3 times longer than normal to finish because you used hand tools instead of power tools. ----Mike, Waukesha, WI

Beautiful!!!

One of the nicest chests I’ve ever seen…Great wood selection…Great build…Using that plywood with the signatures showing, really takes it over the top…Super project…

It looks great! And the signatures in the drawers is a really nice touch. Also the ambrosia maple looks fantastic. It was my pleasure sending you the plans, and you obviously put them to good use.

Great looking dresser. Nice work… and clever re-using college memories. Socks that smell like beer sounds alright to me ;)

Woodeye, nicely done.

The beer pong include is a great idea. And you cleaned up the garage a bit in the process.

What an astounding gift! It will be amazing to think where each friend is after 10, 20, 30+ years, thinking back to when those signatures were made, in the formative years for every individual. A personal time capsule. It will be a piece to draw you together in later years — “hey, guys, come check out my dresser!”

I guess if you wanted you could still use it as a beer pong table ^_^ for one last time’s sake, should the original participants arrive and want to add some new names of grown adult children that you pass this down to. Take out the drawers, set up for a game, winner signs a drawer, put it back together. The tradition could go on for generations.

Beautiful piece, the inclusion of the beer pong table signature’s is priceless. Well done.
