This is a project I completed a few years ago and never got around to post pictures of it. It is 52” long x 14” wide and 26” high. The seating section is 36” long x 14” wide and sits 18” above the floor. Nice size to locate at the foot of a queen-size bed.

Made out of birch stained with a mix of Saman water-based stains. I really like this brand because it bites really well in closed grain woods like birch and maple. It kind of exhibits the same characteristics as dye and pigment stain in one package. Finished with satin water-based lacquer applied using a HVLP gun.

I don’t upholster so I first built a prototype out of construction lumber and took it to a local upholsterer to get feedback on where to locate frame members and nailing strips to make his job easier. Then constructed the real version, completely finished, which he then upholstered with blue leatherette.

Wow. This is gorgeous. Very nicely done. Looks complicated to build with the curves and angles. I would be interested in one more picture from the “end” view.
