Great looking Bowl first time I’ve heard of “Cumara” looking it up it said it’s a great wood to turn because of its high wax content, I’m guessing you have to use acetone to remove the wax to attach your glue block?

Thank You guys! I appreciate it. Went to Woodcraft store this morning, got some more exotic (foreign) hardwoods….hit the neutrals pretty hard. One problem with highly figured or odd color woods is that they are hard to coordinate into projects.

@A1Jim-I never noticed that with Cumaru about it being waxy. I’ve never had any trouble with glue parting. It is nice to turn, I’ve heard it’s used a lot for flooring too.

Nice bowl! and thanks for the pictures. I did not know about the two part construction creating the urn like vessel.

First of all that bowl is beautiful. I also agree with Petey, it seems I’m always learning something from construction pictures. I’ve used Cumaru and it’s heavy and dense. The boards I had all had small holes from some type of bug.
