Here is my version of the wooden night light. I used mahogany boards for sides, painted birch for top and bottom.
I have glued sides together into a box, then cut ~60 degree 1/4” wide slots with dado blade.
The light bulb is 100W equivalent LED light. I used this part as a switch – to turn the light on, you have to touch the metal plate on top once or twice, then touch again to turn it off.

Great design, and I bet it gives off a nice soft light during the night.

I like the light that it casts. A lot of these modern approaches to unique lighting end up having a low light that shines upward right in your eyes, but not at the target. Yours doesn’t do that and still looks great. Nicey done.

That’s a really nice design. 100 Watts for a nightlight, though?

That energy has to get out somewhere. I expect a night light to be 7W max. I get pretty annoyed when I buy an outlet with a “nightlight” in it, and it throws as much light as a standard 40W bulb. I’m trying to sleep, here, eh?! :D

Thank you guys.
I think the better term to describe the function of this lamp is atmospheric lighting, not the night light. I was building it to put in the corner of my living room to add ambient dissipated lighting in the background while watching TV in the evenings.
With its construction, it doesn’t give out much, definitely doesn’t feel like 100W – it’s very soft and warm.

Nice lamp. I tried to make a version like that with the louvers on all 4 sides and didn’t succeed.

I like this a lot a much better solution for a night light versus one of those plastic plug-in types, super looking and great design.

Thanks for the update. It’s a very nice light, and looks a ton better that the ginger jar lamp we have in one corner.
