Hello everyone,
I build this chair maker’s vise with a slight modification, I used steel rails instead of wood for better stability and durability, this is a small project but was really fun to make.

Here is a link for more details on my YouTube channel:

Great build. I like your dovetails. Their more robust than the ones with the skinny pins.

Watched your video it was well produced and I enjoyed it and leaned new techniques.

I hope you do a chair project with it to show it in action.

Your also a good metal worker. Maybe you should change your nick name to The Wood/Metal Crafter. :-)

I was wondering if a version could be made to be clamped into your front bench vice.?

Thank you, actually, there are other versions that do exactly that using the workbench vise to hold the chair maker vise, if you use a similar design to the one in this video then you can detach and attach any rear attachment of your choice using screws to clamp the vise to your workbench.

Good luck

:) sometimes I feel that I became a tool collector more than a woodworker? don’t know how I can stop doing that :)

Thx Jim
