I had these two signs laser lettered by LJ Kposty ( Thanks Ken and Laura). The top one is to commemorate the 50th year of the Buckley Old Engine Show. 2017 was the one year I missed and I found out they had a special branded shingle that year and I missed it. So I bought a 2017 plate from the foundry there and made my own with the help of Ken and Laura. The plaque is made of mesquite with a little fractal figure on the top.

The bottom sign is a memorial to Bill Howard the owner of Saskatoon golf course who passed away this year . It will be placed on the bridge over the creek in the middle of the course. It is made of red oak and both pieces are finished with clear lacquer. Since the red oak sign will be outdoors, I’ll seal it with clear epoxy when the weather warms up over 70 .

The last shot are the typical shingles we get that are branded at the foundry at the show.

Cheers, Jim

Both are great Jim. If the 2 examples are what they usually give at the show, don’t show them yours, it’s much better, and you will end up being tasked to make hundreds of them a year. That Mesquite is a winner, and like Tony mentioned that burn sets it off nicely. Great work.

Nice work Jim. Is that black piece near the center of the pointed one an iron plate from the foundry?

I’m in agreement Jim with the plaque you made way over the top of the ones they have. Nice tribute to Howard. That sign will be recognized by many.

Thank you all for you nice comments. That Buckley sign is going in my office!

Hi James. The 2017 plate is aluminum. That is an aluminum foundry there on site and they cast bells of different sizes among other objects.

Cheers, Jim

I must be getting senile thinking we missed Buckley on the 50th year in 2017. I had two shingles stacked together on the wall and the bottom one was the 2017 one with the “50” on it. I really did not need to make the sigh that Ken lasered for me…but it looks good in my office!!!!!!!!!!

Cheers, Jim
