My latest piece I made to thank the couple who gifted me a whole bunch of cherry wood. Heard they loved Hawaii so much they would travel twice a year. First handmade frame for me, and also the first attempt at splines for reinforcements.

It’s not perfect, but I so enjoyed the journey. Hope they like it. Thanks to DoubleDD for the heads up on the cherry!

Wow Dan that’s is a great and thoughtful gift. It’s going to be a real surprise to them. I think you’ll get more logs from them in the future. Looking forward to seeing you next week.

I love it! This has more in it then meets the eye! After gazing at it for a few seconds I realized it has the islands in it, a palm tree and a dancing hula girl. The more you look the more you see! Great work Dan!
Very nice!

Thanks to—splontergroup / I tried black but just didn’t like so I used baltic birch plain, oiled and sprayed with shellac.

Thanks to—AJ1104 Thank you!

Thanks to—doubleDD Thanks for walking me over to present it. I know they were just so appreciative. Can’t wait for those other trees to fall! (haha)

Thanks to—woodshaver Tony C Thank you Tony!

Glad you stopped by Dan. Believe me I’m working on getting another one of those dead trees cut down. I think this time I’ll take the whole tree except the branches since I have the room in the yard. I’ll let you know.

Oh while I was sanding the river table outside Tom came over to check it out. He was still talking a lot about their gift.
