Blackwood Buffet

Made this Buffet from Blackwood, 2 meter long 900mm high 580 deep and needs 4 people to carry. All joints are mortice and tenon. As the Blackwood planks are available only in 25mm thickness the breadboard ends was the biggest challenge because there isn’t much room for drilling the dowel holes deep enough to be sturdy so after final sanding of the top the dowels holding the ends were slightly protruding through the surface so I countersunk all the dowel ends to 7mm diameter and filled the holes with CA glue and ground coffee which en the end turned out to be a feature of the overall look, lastly I added a 20mm x 20mm strip around the bottom of the top edge to add thickness. Finished with about 8 coats of clear Polywax. This is not my design it was copied from a picture the customer found on the internet without any names so I cannot credit the original designer here. Thanks for looking at my project.

That looks solid, and heavy!!! Nice design and the wood grain is striking. I hope your customer likes it. I sure do.

Andries,

Great job. Love the grain. A wood I never heard of before so I looked it up.

Heavy, fine grained, hard, expensive. And I add, Beautiful!
