We had some problems with our 18’ Ridge beam so we put an I-beam under it and made a faux beam using walnut, arbor myrtle laminate and metal. The pics are in reverse chronological order.

Looks great. So, beams number 3 and 4 (both sides) are purely aesthetic?

That looks good, and a great way to save the ridge beam, covering up the I-beam. Thinking about something like that in my house, vaulted ceiling in the living room.

The metal I-beam is supporting the ceiling. The walnut/laminate and metal are aesthetic.
