Beer Swap 2021

I like to do a theme based on the beer. So this year I chose Voodoo Ranger. The box has a walnut top and cherry base. I used a scrollsaw to cut the figures. The skull is hard maple, blood is the obvious bloodwood and the hatchet blade is quartersawn sycamore the handle is hickory. The painters tape pieces were used to set the top up so I could flush trim on the router.

George, such a nice beer box, love the Ranger. Looks like he had too many beers and got himself a headache.

Great work. So imaginative.

Heal well so you can get back into the shop.

I’m the lucky recipient and I have to say that the skull and cleaver on top is really a great idea. BTW – that is some fine scroll saw work on the skull. For some reason, the walnut top on the cherry box really catches my eye every time I look at the box.

I plan to make some inserts so I can use the box to store some small layout tools that need a home.

Great work!!!

George,

That’s more than 300 miles from here but if I wasn’t in the middle of a building project I’d probably make the run down there. With all the rain we’re getting lately, I can’t spare a minute or I won’t be closed in before the winter snows…

Mike

John Wilson is going to be there? Rats! I sure would love to take one of his Shaker Box classes… Maybe next year!

Mike sorry you can’t drag yourself down this way – I’m trying to plan for the Expo but Ruth (I think) has birthday plans :-)
