Last summer we had to cut down an Apricot tree in our yard that was diseased and also in the way. I wanted to make something out of the wood, so I carved this Kuksa. By the time I got around to the project the wood was very dry. That meant no fear of splitting but it also meant that I had to do the rough shaping with power tools and then finished it off with carving knives (a Morakniv 106 and a 164). This is my first carving project and I’m looking forward to getting my hands on some green wood and trying out some spoons or maybe another Kuksa.

Hard to pick up the apricot notes through the flavor of Tung oil.
