I wanted a beside table lamp with a wider base and made a copy of a vintage one I saw on 1st Dibs. It’s pine with some kind of mystery veneer that I picked up second hand. It looks a lot like a very dark walnut but the dead quartersawn areas have that checkered pattern that sycamore and cherry can have, so not sure. It was hammer veneered with hot hide glue. Eventually, I want to replace the shade with a square one.

This is an attractive lamp, I like it. +1 on the square shade.

Thanks. Good to get confirmation on the shade,

I really really like the look, from a simple square you added the angles and recesses to make it stand out. In a way it is minimalist and then it is elegant. Plus the veneer work is awesome.
