A pair of ‘sorta’ matching lamps – they are matching in the size, shape and general form. A couple differences with the original glue up is the order of line up with the first ‘stick’ glue up which places the walnut first on one shade and the worcmy first in the other shade. It’s easy to see in the first picture.
They are both 15 1/2” high including the finial. The shade is 6” high with an 8” diameter and the base is 3 5/8” square x 1 1/8” thick.
I didn’t like just a 3/4” base and double just didn’t look right so I cut miterd strips to fit the base and glued it together. Then I reswaed it in half to get just under a 3/8” addition. Picture 3 and 4 show the results.
I would really like to take credit for the resin ending at the very top of the shade however it turned out to be a structural design LOL
All in all I was happy to have a set for a nearby Historical Society gift shop. Did I mention that the walnut was harvested on their property years ago and has been stored just waiting for me to happen along and make things for them. I’ve been given the liberty to make whatever strikes my fancy as long as the selling price will fit the local market.
Gheeeeezow life is good.

Thanks for looking and please look for flaws and be sure to point out the light coming thru the holes in the lumber – what a shame I failed to plug them up ( anther lol )

Thanks Jim, it’s hard to believe but the little 5watt LED makes plenty of light even for reading at night

Thanks Pottz – I actually had a person complain ( not on these ) about a knot in a box I had made. I solved the problem trading with a knotless box – happy customer

Nice job.

These shades really make for a cool lamp Dick!

The typical shade is usually an afterthought, these play with the light in so many unique ways, good looking functional work!

Nice work Dick, love them lit. I imagine in person it’s even better ambiance than a pic.

Very nice Dick, especially when on and the clear rings are at the same level, and honestly I don’t think 9 out of 10 people would ever notice the variation in ring colors. If they do notice, tell them it was a designed that way, artist’s prerogative.

thanks, I really got lucky on these. Any time a dimension get varied even a little bit on my shades/bowls the end result is noticeably different. These 2 are nearly perfectly matched size wize.

Very nice, Dick! I think the wormy bits letting the light through is a “design feature” you should charge extra for. ;-)

I believe you’re right, I just can’t figure out how much to charge for something that isn’t there
