i have a VERY tiny laundry room, just big enough for a portable washer on one side and a wall-hung apartment size dryer on the other. it’s only about 3’ x 8’, with a pair of 30” sliders allowing access. the water heater is in a cubby inside the “room”, and we store just about every odd & end you can think of, plus tools, xtra pots & pans, grill stuff, cleaners & a lot of junk.

built 2 of these utility carts on double locking casters. each is just wide enough to roll through the door so we can get to the water heater. they are meant to store, side by side, under the dryer and will hold laundry baskets, all laundry detergents/soaps/cleaners in the large drawers on the bottom. then the household tools in the medium size drawers, and all sorts of stuff in the 2 top drawers.

each drawer has full extension slides. used just 1/2” birch plywood for everything. all edges have edge banding (i’ve gotten pretty good at covering those ugly edges).

since this room is so tiny and subject to moisture from the washer and dryer, i went with just plywood instead of solid wood drawer fronts.

i had a little problem with the carcass racking as i moved it around the garage to work on the drawers. i ended up making a half-lap cross support that is attached at all 4 corners in the back. racking solved.

this was my attempt at building full overlay drawers :)

Put weight on the back to keep it from being tippy when full & open, or revert to 3/4 hinges on the bottom drawer(s).

Very nice work, bet your significant other is pleased. (Pleasing my “other” drives most of my projects.)

Sounds like these cabinets will help unclutter a tiny room with a lot of purposes. That is always a good thing. Nice build.
