This is the third & final piece for my daughter’s dining room project, to go with the prior dining table and buffet projects.
A wall plaque with raised letters, and LED lamps behind for illumination. Construction included pallet wood background, glued & then stapled from behind on a sheet of 1/8” plywood, inset into a frame for support, and a French cleat for wall mounting. Dimensions are 4 feet wide by 3 feet tall. The string of LEDs has 100 lamps on a 34 foot string. I drilled mounting holes for each lamp and used all but the last two, spreading them out according to frontal effect. You can notice that two letters L and Y are somewhat brighter, due to the much lighter wood in that section. The lights under the remainder of the lettering are actually twice as close together, spaced at 1.5” instead of the 3” for the bright section, but the darkness of the majority of the boards dampened the lights. I even applied a coat of shellac to the boards, to seal in any possible contaminants, and hoped the gloss of the shellac would help even things out, no luck.
It is in it’s new home now, much to the enjoyment of my daughter & family.

1. Beautiful and classy wall plaque. 2. She is one lucky daughter to call you Dad. 3. You and your work on her behalf exemplify the word family! Heck, I’m proud of you!

Thanks Serradura, fits nice in my daughter’s home, most appropriate for their family of 4.

Thanks Lenny, much appreciated comment. Family is number 1 for all of us, one of the only true treasures in life.

Recycle, actually I used my band saw, the word was cut out in sections with a break between the F and A, and the L and Y are each separate letters. All are held on with velcro with a quarter inch block for raised effect.

Very nice, Tom! Best is that they love it, I’m guessing.
