I went to my lumber supplier and saw a piece of curly cherry and salivated over it but was buying wood for another project. I left without buying a regretting it so went back the next day. My luck it was still placed out in front of the cherry rack. I bought the board and my first project is the box. I couldn’t put hinges on it because I couldn’t coverup any of the grain pattern. I finished it with wipe on poly satin. Best part is they didn’t up the price because of the grain.

Nicely done, and it is fun to ‘see’ your excitement about how it turned out.

Eye catching. And to find the board there yet the next day…well, was meant to be! Nice job!! I just “discovered” working with cherry earlier this year and it is now a favorite.

Very nice! How long did you have to dry the wood (due to all that salivation)?

I’m a big fan of cherry! I love the smell when working it and it works so well for carving!
