Driving in to work a few years ago in Seal Beach, CA, I saw that workers were removing all the large juniper bushes/trees along the south side of Leisure World. I asked if they would mind if I took some of the larger pieces and they were more than happy to have less to feed into the chipper.

The wood turns easily, but fractures VERY easily with the grain. It smells wonderful, but is very oily so finishing is tricky. I’ve had the most success by letting it dry thoroughly, then wiping down with denatured alcohol, then applying a shellac.
