2 Small Boxes

These boxes are made with Canarywood, and Walnut. They are 3” x 4” and 3” x 3.5” respectively.

I wanted to see what gluing 2 pieces of wood together before making box joints would look like. The walnut on the inside makes it look like there are holes in the box. I like the way it looks.

Nice little boxes, great job with the finger joints. The accent strips turned out nice making the box have the defined lines.

Cool effect John!

At first look, I winced thinking about applying glue and assembling before everything began to set up =8^O

Did you use hide glue or some other slow-set adhesive?

The design is tops, great work!

Nice work John. A lot of detail in a tiny box.

I am with Splinty, thinking about the struggle to glue up those joints. Looks “Awsum!”

Lot of details in these small boxes. Really pretty grain – not sure is the top and sides the canarywood?

Thanks bruce, I just used Titebond II. There were so many joints they all didn’t get or need as much glue as I would normally use, so I was able to move quickly.

Thanks Brian, I cheated a little. I was confident it wouldn’t come apart.

Thanks, I made a mistake in my description and I just fixed it.
I only used 2 woods, walnut and canarywood. It’s one of my favorites. I like all the different colors and it seems to mill well.

The joints are out of this world. Excellent job. Mel

Thanks Mel. Having the contrasting woods it gives the illusion that it’s more complicated than it is.
