My Sister in Law’s Partner made one of these leaves under the instruction of Neil Wright. When I saw it I thought I could easily make one of those by myself.
After his death I decided that it was time to have a go.
Dug out a piece of Mango root that I got from Queensland and started work. MAN, that was not as easy as I thought and after many hours, over a period of months I finally got it to the shape I wanted.
The underside has three little feet.
Sanded to 400 and sprayed with Marine grade varnish, can’t remember how many coats but there were a few.
The leaf measures 17 inches by 8 1/2 wide and the edges are about 3/16” or less.
Hope you like it and Thanks for Looking.
C & C Welcome.

Bob.

I still have a piece left, I should haul it out dust it off and see what I can make after 10 years of further experience.

Maybe turn over a new leaf …....oh sorry that’s just so sick

Excellent Job Bob

BTW how is everything going after that wild sheila dropped by?

Hi Rob,
That mango root sure is something special. I still have a few small pieces, that need to be used for I don’t Know what at this stage.
Kalbarri is slowly getting back to Tourists, although it will be years until all the scars are gone. Luckily we came through waybetter than a lot of people.

You didn’t give up and your leaf looks super nice Bob!
Sounds like that Mango root put up a good fight! Sometimes when we see thing and say that’s an easy one to make it turns out more difficult than we thought. I’m so guilty!

Looks like a artistic challenge for you. Hats off to you for a realistic look. I may agree with you about I could make one but it does look like it would be a time consumer. Well done Bob.

Mark, Dick, Tony, Dave and Jim,
Thanks for the comments. I have been really tied up with our Men’s Shed organisation and sadly it has reduced my time playing in my own shed.
I have made a few things but never seem to get time to post them.
This one turned out so well that I just had to do it.
