and I was glad she said that because I found a few things I forgot I had made. Most of them are just run of the mill things that we all make but when I ran into this I just had to share.
Not that it’s special, just unique.
It’s a wormy chestnut box with mitered corners and walnut dowels for accent as well as support for the mitered corners.
The box is 8” x 12” x 5” high with a lift off lid and I put a small bevel on the box and lid for accent. The lid is a raised panel set in a dado in the box side. The lift handle is a piece of the Canary wood cut off the log I bought a while back.
The floor is dark green short velvet also set in a dado prior to glue up.
I had a small piece of spalted walnut that just begged to be set inside the box and above for lid orientation. It was mitered to fit and a couple dabs of glue to withstand too many hands lifting etc at craft shows.
one more of walnut ‘pins’ in the corners

here’s picture showing why I got cleanup orders

We did get word that the https://www.atwoodfallfest.org will be on this year so most of thie above items will be for that show.

Thanks for looking and comments are always welcome

That’s a cool looking box Dick. You must of needed a clean up if you lost this box. hahaha. It’s amazing how sometimes they accumulate fast. Keep making them and get ready for the show.

Nice chestnut box, the dowels are a nice touch. As for the cleanup, I too have recently found things I forgot I have. Guess it come with age.

You have a project table, I have a project room 8^)

Great box, has a rustic look on the exterior with the combo of woods! I think it may be a bit small if the intention was to hold all your “overflow” 8^)

A lot better showing up with a ton of inventory, than not enough. Especially if folks are spending like they have been.

I like the box. That Chestnut looks ancient in the close shots.

Thanks Dave -
Yeah, I make stuff and bring it in the house set (stack) it on the table and go make something else. It’s a good thing tho because it is the first thing a person sees when they come in the front door.

Thanks Tom, age has nothing to do with it I just – wait, what did you say ?

Jim, pretty sure you’re right – there’s going to be a find and seek episode for weeks after I’m gone.

thanks splinter – naw, there was no purpose intended. I just build whatever strikes me that day except when I get specific requests. I got an order for 15 business card holders so now I have to make wine racks to get card holder blanks.

Absolutely – I usually have plenty of inventory but walk in sales have been pretty good. Chestnut has it’s own color that can’t be duplicated and of course the worm holes are the greatest. I’ve had glue squirt out 2” away from the glue joint so it’s always fun to work with.

The forgotten treasures we find when clean up orders are given.
You’re a wise man Dick following orders because the alternative would have been devastating.
No scrap wood here, just pieces awaiting a project though some need finishing.
Good luck with the fair!
