I built this a few years back but never got around to posting this cleaning box. Made it out of Granadillo that I picked up at WC. Nice hardwood, but this was/is only 1/4” thick. Not the easiest for doing box joints, but it worked. I used the Incra I-Box Jig and it works great once you have everything set… just use a lot of scraps when setting it up ;-)

Not much beats the aroma of Hoppes 8^)

I like your ordinance embedded in the lid, you must have a 50 cal stashed in your closet….

Nice way to organize!

Nice box Mike. I’ve never even hear of Granadillo so definitely never worked with it. It looks great though.

Looks good! I need to build one. That granadillo looks a lot like bocote. And, yes, the Hoppe’s smells great.

Nice box Mike, the heavy rounds are quite the eye catcher.

Nice.

I like the turned rounds. The slugs look real, or are they painted?

At first glance I thought the rounds had something to do with the hinges.

Very nice range box.

I used metallic Sharpies “paint” for coloring the bullet portions. Some are oil-based.

Turning the cartridge/rounds was the easy part. Cutting/splitting them end-to-end was the hard part. One has to be really careful with their fingers, even on a scroll-saw. This basically means that half of each round ends up as waste.

Glad you shared this, this is a great idea. My gun cleaning boxes have seen their last days. Great job on it.
