Mantel

I was a little hesitant to post this one because I only did the bottom legs of the mantel to fit my fireplace. About 14-years ago I had a tenant who couldn’t pay his last month of rent payment on a building he was renting from me, so after I saw his work, I accepted the mantel as payment. This is the reason I bought my first CNC machine and got into the hobby of carving wood. It also got me into learning 3D graphics and software over the years.

Beautiful piece!

How long have you been using a CNC?

Gary,
I appreciate being hesitant to post a project where some of it is someone else’s work, but as you were clear and didn’t take credit I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it. I group this with someone posting a repair they made to piece. Being able to blend new work into an existing style is a skill all its own and the legs look like they’re part of the original design.

So I give a thumbs up.

Mike

Wow you did such a great job blending the legs into the mantel you could have told me you did the whole thing and I would have believed it. Like Mike said above blending your work into existing is a skill unto itself and you did a fantastic job.
