These boots come from some old cedar logs I was given by my friend
Left boot is from a split rail cedar fence post. The upper edge of the vamp shows some long time weathering.

The second boot comes from a cedar utility pole. Cutting the boot blank I included. A knot and its shows dramatically on back of the boot.
I used a solution of alcohol and shellac and applied several coats. The result is a shiny finish.

Roman, really excellent work as always. Do you only carve from solid stock or do you also do laminations?

Yes I carve laminations. I have some lam beam off cuts. They carve beautifully. I have yet to get up my creative courage and start to carve and dye the wood should be interesting.
Also my friend who is a renovation guru gives me his off cuts which I laminate. They make fabulous carvings. And the best, the wood is all free.
