Project Information

This is the first clock I made. Back during covid lockdown last spring. The bottom field has been empty since then while I decided how to finish it off. So I recently did some research on copper embossing and today I completed the piece by making and installing the acorn accent.
I wasn't happy with how bright the copper was. So I used a solution of vinegar, ammonia, and salt to speed up the aging process.

What a great project. That copper panel is a neat way to finish it.

Thanks adot45. That's a 3-sided box mitered on the edges with end grain from a log that I cut to match the "beam" and mitered into the ends.

Nice work! Kudos on matching all that grain up, It can really "harmonize" the look when you have active grain patterns.

The copper is a nice touch for this style. I've addressed simple copper patinas in several of my blogs, there is so much that can be done with this added element.

Love it! As a clock collector/restorer/builder, nothing brings a smile faster than a cool clock project brought to its finish. Kudos!

This is such a pleasing classic style, yet, you've made it your own original. Very well done.

Great job. I love the copper panel. Clocks, IMHO, make great gifts.
I have built one for each of my three kids.
They are great family heirlooms.
Congratulations on a job well done.

Thanks, fivecodys. I was thinking of running off 4 or 5 of them to give as Christmas presents next year too.
Bstrom, I toyed with the idea of putting in a real clock movement but I know I'll never remember to wind it. Something about a quartz movement that just makes it meh.
