I found the plans for this chisel rack in a recent issue of Woodsmith magazine. I wanted a nice rack to hang my chisels in and figured this one would suffice. Now if I could ever get some chisels nice enough to match it! haha. My ol’ cheap-o craftsman get me by for now, but I’ve been lusting over a set of pfeils at woodcraft…all in due time I guess.

I saw the plan you referred to as well, difference is you actually made it! Nice project, clean work. As far as chisels go, it’s been my humble experience that if sharpened and honed within five degrees thier original bevel angle, minel pretty much work the way I want them to. My qualifier on that statement is based upon an old set of Stanley 750’s and my Craftsman set (identical to what you show in your pic). I’ve been using a WorkSharp setup, and I’ve put both sets of chisels through the process (three grit levels and a leather wheel with some rouge on it) and they do what they are supposed to do. BTW, tool lust is over-rated.

Nice job, I finally bought a real nice set and love them. It helps when using good ones I found.

It’s a very classy chisel rack you have there. Maybe you can sell hand crafted chisel racks and earn those new chisels. :)
