A friend had a hip replacement. I had some twisted stock in the basement and a little time. Not really sure what type of wood this is. It came in a bunch of sticks donated by another friend.

I don’t typically use stain but my friend wanted a darker wood. I was a little disappointed how little color it ultimately picked up. I was more satisfied with the finish; I used my old standby linseed oil followed by finishing wax – I have never been disappointed with the result.

Thankfully I don’t require one to walk, but if I did I would want it to be like this.

Such a nice marriage between the twisted gnarl, and the shiny bright metal.

Nice looking cane.
Hopefully the friend only needs it temporarily.

You don’t need to use a cane like that, you just want to.

It’s a style thing…

Really good looking shape, beautiful…
