I took very seriously the advice proffered in this forum and created a 1.25” thick cutting board. Walnut, cherry, maple; 10” x 13”. I’m generally happy with this one.

That’s a gorgeous board, looks way too good to use as a chopping board.

Beautiful board. Half of them never get used when they look this nice and I think this will be a display piece.

What I was asking is this thicker board, does it have the spots you pointed out on the thinner one?

Hi Steve, thanks for sticking with this. I should clarify:

- This one board (1.25” thick) is the subject of both threads.
- This 1.25” thick board (and only this board) has the white spots
- When I wet the board with tap water to raise the grain, the spots were unaffected

-- Still so much to learn!
