Wedding Guest Book - Daughters Version

This is my daughters version of a wedding guest book. The wedding reception is at a haunted house so this headstone shaped box goes perfect with the whole theme. Instead of the usual signing the book she came up with signing small piece of spooky shaped plywood that will be dropped into the display box. The small pieces you see are just sample of sizes I was using until she made up her mind on which size she will pick. There will be smaller sizes for just signing your name and larger ones if you feel like writing something extra.
It’s made from purpleheart and maple which will match the card box I made previously.

There is a slot in the top to drop them in which I had to recut after the sizes were changed but I didn’t mess it up too much making it bigger after assembly. It also has a plexiglass front to be able to see the names as it fills up. 19’‘h x 14’‘w x 2 1/4’’ deep. I also made a matching stand that’s the same as the one for the card box
Due to the pandemic the wedding has been delayed a year but their life is going on as if they are married.
I’m just happy I’m still around to give her away. LOL

very unique and VERY different from the norm, one of a kind.
Just out of curiosity – Does you daughter have her own wood shop yet ?

This is so cool Dave and very creative! Your daughter did a great job designing this. The purple hear looks so good it’s perfect for the theme she selected. Nice work on the stand also!

My first thought was that it looks kinda like a headstone, but I guess that’s appropriate for some weddings, too. ;-)

Nicely done, Dave!

Nice work on that wedding box, Dave. That is a good idea for all the cards one gets!

Cheers, Jim

Thanks Dick. I give her the credit with her imagination. I just follow directions. LOL She doesn’t have her own shop yet, I think she likes it better that I do the work for her in my shop. hahaha

Thanks Ivan. Different from the normal.

Thanks Tony. My daughter comes up with many out of the usual things and gives me a lot of challenges sometimes.
She’s starting to delete my stash of purpleheart with all of her projects lately. haha When it came time for the stand I forgot how I made the first one for the card box.

Dave, you nailed it. That’s exactly what it is suppose to be. I guess I should mention that in the opening. The wedding reception is at a haunted house so this is perfect for the theme.

Thanks Jim. Now she has a matching card box and guest book.

Thanks Rich. Making unique and different things is my favorite. (sometimes)LOL.

The project resembles a stage with satiny curtains as the backdrop, She has you wrapped around her finger 8^)

Nice as always!

That’s an original project Dave, looks spooky to me. Is Dracula invited?

Hey Splint that’s a good idea . She can use it for some sort of halloween decoration later on. Thanks for looking.

Thanks John. Yes Dracula will be at the wedding with a few other characters. It’s a haunted house and people who work there will be dress up. I can’t wait.

Thanks Lee. My daughters idea I just put things together to make it happen for her.

Great keepsake project, and it will fit the theme perfectly. You did a wonderful job on this. I would like to copy, but I have to come up with something around sunflowers, for my daughter’s fall wedding. I think the petals will be used for guest to sign.

I did a lighthouse for a couple about 4:years ago. Gave them sharpies for guest to sign the tall base.

If you could make some extras, try to display them at some wedding venues, maybe a way to drum up some business.

Nice work Dave.
Well made…..There is a also a Theatre Appearence as though looking at a stage and waiting for the curtain to raise.
Great Project…...Cliff

Thanks for looking Eric. The petals for sunflowers sounds good. Making one may require more thinking LOL. Good luck with it I would love to see it. I will have to check out your lighthouse. My wife loves them.

Thanks Cliff. Maybe my daughter can display things inside later on. You and splintergroup are right about the stage appearance. I will mention that to her for more ideas.
