In my quest to construct legacy toys for my five granddaughters, I just finished the T&J Big Rig truck for my granddaughter Halle from pattern 32-1; but I designed my own flat bed trailer. For the trailer I used maple floor boards and edged them with poplar. The poplar is held in place with 5/16” dowels which will be used to tie down various cargoes. Trailer fenders, cargo, headlight assembly and sleeper roof are constructed from white spruce.

This trailer is loaded with nine beams which future grand-babies may use to assemble bridges or timber frame a barn. I included 3/8” dowels for connecting beams in various configurations. I tied the cargo down with mason’s line.

The project is finished with Watco tung oil and includes a plywood storage box.

Great job PtW... That last picture is awesum.

Know I shouldn’t be “sexist”, however, interesting inspiration of trucks for granddaughters… only because girls are rougher on trucks than boys…. they have trouble changing gears!

After finishing the second dollhouse, my granddaughters asked, “What if we have boy children?” Hence the trucks. Go figure.
